About Stanedge Grange Butchery

Back in 2012, the lifelong dream of Mary Bunting came to life as we opened our butchery and farm shop, what an exciting time we have had. Master Butcher Michael Shirt headed the team and after working in the industry for 50 years Michael made the decision to retire in 2025.

Today in the shop you will see the team headed up by James Bunting who since joining the team after his GCSE’s in 2017 has achieved his Level 2 & 3 in Retail Butchery with distinction and has gone on to complete his Master Butchers Qualification in 2025.

Outside of shop hours you will find James working on the farm looking after the livestock. A true farm to fork story.

In his spare time James enjoys being a livestock judge most notable at the Bakewell Market Christmas Prime Stock show and sale, and representing Bakewell Young Farmers and Derbyshire at competitions.
